Sometimes, you may run into a situation where you found some ammunition you didn’t know you had, or inherited a firearm with ammo you don’t want. No matter the situation, Onyx is always there to recycle that ammunition and take it off your hands.

Maybe you think your ammo is bad. Whether it’s a bad primer in a brand new factory round or a case of corroded rifle ammo, at some point you’re going to have to deal with the issue of what to do with ammunition that’s faulty or not fit to shoot.

Some people have been tossing ruined ammo into a small box in their garage, or just keeping the ammo around the house, not necessarily a good idea. And if you don’t have a handy ammo disposal receptacle where you shoot, then we will be able to help you.

No matter what the correct procedure actually is, it should probably go without saying that disposing of ammo improperly can be dangerous. The primer may not have ignited when you pulled the trigger but that doesn’t mean it can’t still go off under the right circumstances (like, for instance, when the garbage man activates the compactor on his truck). Furthermore, most ammo contains lead, which isn’t something you want to be too casual about tossing out with your household garbage, and doing so might even be illegal depending on where you live.

The best method for getting rid of your old ammo will depend on a couple of different factors. The quantity of bad ammo you have makes a big difference. Ditching a handful of bad rim fire cartridges is much easier than figuring out what to do with a dozen ammo cans of .30-06 that you found out your grandpa kept in a leaky storage shed.

Your geographical location also has an effect on what options you have. The closer you live to a major metropolitan area, the more likely you are to have public facilities nearby that are equipped to handle ammo disposal. So instead of taking all that time to determine where you want to take your ammo, calling numerous numbers only to find out they will not dispose of the ammo, and some places even charge.

Call Onyx Concealed Carry Ohio at 614-551-6111. You can bring your ammo to numerous drop off points. We will either recycle or dispose of the ammo. We will help you in any way we can that allows you to legally recycle and dispose of your ammunition.
