Before and After your CHL

For many people, a concealed carry class is their first step into the world of firearms training, and as such, they arrive at the class with no understanding of what lies ahead and how they should prepare for a concealed carry class.

A concealed carry class is a permitting class, not a training class. A concealed carry class gives you as much training for the realities of carrying a concealed weapon as your driving test gave you about dealing with your morning commute.

Get some training after your concealed carry class, because you are not going to rise to the occasion, you’re going to sink to your lowest level of training.

For so many..it is no different than taking a few days drivers education course and then hopping into a car,... let's just say for one instance that you took a few days drivers education and then you did not hop into a car or even look at a car for another year, would you remember all the laws? Would you remember all the rules? Would you even be able to drive the car?...

I would say you might be very dangerous on the road,.. firearm training is no different, it comes with a huge responsibility, because you get your CHL permit does not certify you in anything that says that you are an expert at handling or even knowing anything about your firearm... race car drivers train and train to be the best at what they do, behind the wheel... if someone that just got their drivers license tried to do what they do he would probably end in disaster,.

I guess that's the easiest way to try to explain what I feel about this situation..

in my opinion too many people come to chl or ccw training class with zero firearm knowledge... I would love to see people take some private training before they even get to me, and which I would be willing to give, and many many many other professionals are out there to assist you as well...

I implore you at the bare minimum, during the waiting period that you are waiting to get your license processed, hire a professional trainer to at least help you establish a regimen at the range to build your confidence in carrying the actual firearm that you plan to carry..

please do not misinterpret a license to carry as proper training... I hope that those who go through the CHL course, can personally looking in the mirror and give a honest self evaluation, do I have the knowledge to accept this responsibility?

God bless you all and be safe.
